FRIDAY - Trackwalker + Key Stat + Best Bet

Here is the predicted track pattern for Friday's meeting at Canterbury together with our Best Bet & Key Stat.

TRACK

Good 4

TRACKWALKER

We are expecting the bulk of the winners to come from lanes 1-4 with no advantage for getting wider and with Canterbury a tight turning track, we see it be advantageous to save ground and utilise the lanes that are perfectly fine.

BARRIERS

1100m – Bout 280m until they hit the final turn, which is a tight one. Typically we see a decent tempo from this start point

1550m – Goes straight into a half bend before they hit the back straight

NEW ZAC?

While Aussie hoop Zac Purton has displayed his talent on the international stage in Hong Kong, another Zac is beginning his career down under and looks blessed with plenty of ability. Canterbury is often regarded as a real test for jockeys with Darren Beadman in his heyday riding at around 40% there. Currently we have an apprentice in Zac Lloyd, who boasts the best Canterbury strike rate of any jockey in the land. He’s ridden 8 winners from 21 rides at 38%.

NIC ASHMAN TIP

Race 7 No.11 VIENTIANE $6

“Won brilliantly on debut here, which is a tick as not all horses handle Canterbury. She missed the start 1UP this time in, snuck along the rail but had to do too much from the 600m – 200m and the leaders had a picnic up front giving them the chance to kick again inside the last 150m. A better start here, settles closer and hits the front at the 150m mark. New Zac in the saddle helps”
