CHARM STONE ran a serious career peak winning last Saturday’s Quizette Stakes [1100m] at Caulfield and should be shorter in Golden Rose markets
That is our opinion here at The Beaten Favourite and here’s why;
A pair of 3YO races were conducted over 1100m at Caulfield
CHARM STONE won the girls version while CYLINDER took out the boys race
CYLINDER was $1.45 because he proved to be one of the best from his generation during their juvenile season
Here is the breakdown of times from Saturday’s respective races supplied by Punting Form
CHARM STONE went through the first 500m at an average furlong speed of 11.74 while CYLINDER was a tad slower at 11.87
From the 800m – 600m the filly has gone almost half a second faster before running similar splits from there to the post
In fact, the only split CYLINDER went quicker was the last 200m, where he was 0.08 superior
“She has sustained speed, we’ve always had a very big opinion of her,” co-trainer Michael Kent Junior said.
“We are going to follow the IN SECRET path this spring. That is, she is most likely to head north [Sydney] for the Run To Rose on September 9.
“We’ll dual accept for her down here in the Atlantic Jewel but our preference that day will be the Run To The Rose.
“Then the Golden Rose followed by a freshen up and back to 1200m for the Coolmore Stud Stakes.
“I think 1200m will be her pet trip but she is very, very good and deserves a crack in the Golden Rose.”
TBF DATABASE has CYLINDER’s peak at 91 courtesy of his Golden Slipper 2nd
CHARM STONE posted a 92 [91.6] on Saturday while CYLINDER’s Vain Stakes victory rated 90, which included a 1L bonus for a slow tempo.
Here are the past 5 winners of the Golden Rose and their winning rating. CHARM STONE is currently $21 for the Golden Rose. The query will be - can she rate just as well at 1400m?
