The TBF Ratings has Sunday's Listed Sale Cup down to three chances with our each-way play being $16 in the country feature.
TRACK: Good 4.
WEATHER: Some rain is predicted in greater Melbourne but very little if any is to fall on Sale racecourse. We don't claim to be meteorologists but we'll work off the track staying dry.
TRACKWALKER: In perfect order but without any rain it could play quite fast with on speed runners near the rail being advantaged.
EARLY SPEED: We're expecting THOUGHT OF THAT being third-up and on a dry deck to lead at a genuine tempo with AGE OF CHIVALRY holding his back. The outside lead position could be held by BERMADEZ or MR EXCLUSIVE.
TBF RATINGS: BERMADEZ posted an 82 last start and 86 before that, which is good enough to be winning a Sale Cup with Milton Park rating 79 last year and All Too Huiying 81 the year before when bolting in by 5 lengths. This does look a stronger version of the event with numerous runners potentially hitting 80+. Bermadez has been posting consistent ratings and is the horse to beat.
UNCLE BRYN was awful last start but his run in the Naturalism before that rated 86. The dry track could see the best from this import.
The roughie for us is THOUGHT OF THAT and we think he'll run a peak 12-month figure here. The reason for that is today will be the first time he's third-up in a prep for over a year. He's had 13 starts when first or second-up for 0 wins and just 2 placings but when the gelding races third-up he's placed 3 from 4 including a victory. The last time we saw him at Sale he set a fast tempo and bolted posting an 89 rating. We are hoping he leads today and a repeat of his last run here would see him win the Cup. He's a very hit or miss horse that has to lead to win this race but at $16 we've got to be on each-way.
TBF BET:
EACH-WAY THOUGHT OF THAT [7] plus
BOX QUINELLA & TRIFECTA with BERMADEZ [5] & UNCLE BRYN [4]
