NATURE STRIP sizzles at Randwick

NATURE Strip took an important step towards an unprecedented fourth TJ Smith Stakes with a rousing gallop at Randwick on Wednesday.

Chris Waller’s globetrotting sprinter has been out of form since his successful Royal Ascot trip last June, where he trounced the world's best in the G1 Kings Stand Stakes [1000m].

He quickly pushed aside any concerns about his form by posting a slick 33.84s for his final 600m of an exhibition gallop between races at Randwick.

“He’s one of the fastest horses in the world. He was sharp over the final 600m and James struggled to pull him up,” stable rep Charlie Duckworth said before elaborating on Nature Strip’s below par form recently.

“He’s improved lengths since coming back from Melbourne. I don’t know why but he just wasn’t right down there. He's right now.”
