One of the oldest races in the country, first run in 1879, the Caulfield Cup is long regarded as the perfect audition for a Melbourne Cup in just over weeks' time. The world’s richest race on turf will take place this Saturday as the eighth edition of The Everest will see arguably the best 12 sprinters in the country come together at Royal Randwick in pursuit of the biggest payday in racing.
Originating in 2017, The Everest in 2024 will see the race propelled to Group 1 status for the first time as the weight for age 1200m contest considered a pinnacle in sprint racing around the globe. As such, previous winners such as inaugural and double champion REDZEL (2017, 2018) and Everest/Royal Ascot winner NATURE STRIP (2021/2022) are held in high esteem.
