Here are the TBF Ratings for the Group 1 Champions Mile [1600m] at Flemington on Saturday.
TBF G1 Ratings are based solely on each horse’s ‘Peak This Prep’ [PTP].
We’ve narrowed the race down to runners whose PTP is within 5 lengths of the top-rated performance from any runner this campaign.
MY OBERON 96
Huge rating off his lone Australian run in the Crystal Mile but this race often rates through the roof with mixed results for those that follow it. The Crystal Mile was on a heavy track at The Valley, which is vastly different to a dry deck at Flemington. Notwithstanding, he might be special and market will be your best guide.
CASCADIAN 95
Fying this prep with multiple high rating performances but they’ve been on wet ground and he’s not quite as dominant on the dry plus from gate 11 he’ll have to go back and concede a start to some handy horses.
ALLIGATOR BLOOD 94
His PTP was over this track and distance on a dry surface so he gets ticks there over the likes of Cascadian and My Oberon. The query is he’s had 2 runs over 2000m, will he be fresh enough to come back in trip?
PRIVATE EYE 93
PTP dry track at 1200m but his ratings around that are similar. Flying. Proven at the distance but we must point out he carried a much lighter weight when he won the Epsom Hcp.
SUMMARY
· Winner likely runs 94-95
· We’ve got My Oberon coming off his Valley run by at least 2 lengths
· Cascadian to come off his peak by 1-2 lengths
· Private Eye to run a PTP
· Alligator Blood can run to his 94 from the Makybe Diva
