Should be able to win from anywhere if you’re good enough but certainly appears to be some advantage being a couple of horses off the inside lane or two.
We'd suggest the best spot is settling off speed and blending into the race at least 3 horses off the inside

Simon Miller and Pat Carberry won the final G1 of the year last weekend with Amelia’s Jewel taking out the Northerly Stakes. They pair are striking at 25% over the past 12 months with most of their wins at Ascot thus proving to be one the best strike rates of any metro combo in the land

“Put in a couple of stinkers so far this campaign but the only time he’s been to the races 3UP at 1400m he ran a credible 5th beaten 3L in the G3 Sires Produce, which reads well for a Class Three Hcp. You’ll note he was running around in Class Five races last prep and this really does look his best chance of winning, or at least running well, in quite some time. Add to that he maps perfectly getting a lovely trail 2-5lens off the speed and he looks worthy a speck at the big odds”
